Billed as a play in one-act, Million Dollar Misery is an original dark comedy that tells the story of a band held captive by a deranged fan in what can be considered a loose mashup of Broadway musicals like Million Dollar Quartet and Stephen King’s Misery. What comes of it is both a loving tribute to multiple genres of stage and screen, but also a beautifully twisted show about a world of no redemption, no grace, and no compassion that will leave you laughing one minute and stunned the next.
“Everyone had a hand in crafting their characters and though some of the plot movement in this story is extreme, many of the little details were taken from personal experiences,” says Joe McDaniel, Writer and Director of Million Dollar Misery. “At its heart, this is just a story about a very broken family that has forgotten how to love each other.”
