Pulling from material from Huggable Riot’s past three years of revues, Hug It Out repackages and repurposes its best scenes into a brand new show with a brand new cast. The end result is a revue that draws from the anxieties and uncertainties faced every day as we navigate through an uncertain world, from trying to live among neighborhood gentrification to trying to survive the GOP zombie apocalypse.
“When looking back at our most recent shows, it was not surprising to see that much of our material tapped into the notions of anxiety, anger, and an utter lack of complicity for what was happening in the world,” says Mark Toriski, Director of Hug It Out. “But while these scenes are socially sardonic, there is an underlying message throughout that if we just get through our day to day and look out for one another, things will be okay.”
Hug It Out stars Josie Benedetti, Thomas P. Clune, Leah Judge, Wanjiku Kairu, Sarah Jean Peters, and Matt Waechter, with musical direction by Tony Belsito and stage direction by Jessica Thomas.
